Red Scarf Project:

The Red Scarf Project is a program by Foster Care to Success that sends scarves to Foster kids who are going to college. Most of these young adults have aged out of foster care and will have no family to send them care packages while they are at college.  The deadline for this year is December 15th, 2011, so that the scarves can be given to the kids on Valentine’s Day 2012.  If you can’t participate this year, please consider throwing some red yarn in your “On the Go” bag and knitting or crocheting a scarf throughout the year and submitting it for next year.

No Episode This Week

Due to illness for most of this week and needing to get ready to leave for a wedding tomorrow morning, there will be no video update this week.

The entries for the Kitsap Country Fair were submitted last weekend and now I am working on getting the entries for the Puyallup Fair ready for submission.

My cousin is getting married in Southern Oregon at a campground, so my family will be leaving early Friday morning for the 8+hr drive and we will be returning Sunday night.  I am hoping to get the Small Talk shawl finished at the campground so that I can block it on Monday.  I am hoping to record the next episode of A Cat and Her Yarn on Tuesday so that editing can happen on Wednesday and upload on Thursday before I leave for my volunteer shift at the Kitsap County Fair.

OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) – Rated as one of the top attractions in Portland, it is my second favorite museum in the world.
Oregon Zoo
McMenamins – My favorite chain of brewery pubs. Several locations throughout Oregon and Washington.
Portland Breweries – Including some suggested Brewery Crawls
Brewvana Portland Brewery Tour Bus
Food Carts – Food Carts are becoming a tourist attraction in Portland. These mobile eateries are scattered throughout Portland and offer every cuisine imaginable.
Pearl District
TripAdvisor’s Traveler Recommended Attractions for Portland – I love using TripAdvisor as a starting point for my next trip.

Mill Ends – Fabulous Discount Fabric and Yarn store.
FabricDepot – I swooned the first time I visited this store. I found the perfect brocade for a historical costuming project at a very affordable price. I am still floored by their prices compared to other places I have looked.
